DeMarcus "Boogie" Cousins was arguably the best center in pro basketball prior to tearing his left Achilles on Friday January 26, 2018. Cousins can score the basketball in the low post as well as from the three point line. In addition to his scoring prowess he is a gifted passer. Cousins would go on to get surgery five days later which sidelined him for the remainder of the 2017-2018 season. He became a free agent in the summer of 2018 and didn't receive any offers from teams throughout free agency. A doesn't take a rocket scientist to discover why no NBA wanted to offer Cousins a contract. His injury left many NBA teams thinking he wouldn't quite be the same player he was prior to the injury. However, Cousins called the Golden State Warriors General Manager Bob Myers to inquire if they would like his services. Myers pitched the idea to the likes of Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry and of course they approved. Cousins signed a one $5.3 million dollar contract. DeMarcus, said "last was the hardest year of my life" rehabbing and doing the same thing over and over can be frustrating. On Friday January 18, 2019 all of Cousins hard work and rehab paid off when he started for the two time defending NBA champions Golden State Warriors. The Warriors played against the Los Angeles Clippers. Cousins played a total of 15 minutes scored 14 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists. His stat line was pretty impressive given he hasn't played in a NBA game in almost a full calendar year. With 36 regular season games left before the NBA playoffs begin it will be interesting to see how the Warriors will integrate Cousins into their offense.
