There is a lot of chaos going on in the world which makes it difficult to remain optimistic. With that being said most millennials know they cannot put an end to the injustices this society faces. So why not listen to music that doesn't require you analyze the many flaws America has a whole? Trap music doesn't nearly present a display of witty rap lyrics like conscious rap. However, trap music is better known for its sound. The beats associated with trap music are often samples from older songs and given a contemporary new sound. Trap music references a lot of the basic day to day activities a normal human being participates in. For example, going to a party and dancing with friends. Another example would be going to the mall and buying clothes. Conscious rap can be depressing at times which is why most millennials gravitate towards trap music. This is one thought as to why this trend has started.
