Claremont gets the win against West Oakland Middle

As the 2019 Junior Warriors 8th grade boys basketball league winds down a pair of familiar foes face off one more time. Earlier this season on Saturday January 19, 2019 Claremont played against West Oakland middle school. Claremont would go on to win by a huge margin 30 points 54-24. Going into Saturdays matchup Claremont's head coach David Doubley knew West Oakland Middle school would challenge them.

When coach Doubley was asked what he expected from West Oakland Middle school prior to Saturday's game here is what he had to say "I expect them to come out and play with a lot of intensity they remember us beating them the last time we played against one another", Doubley said. From the start West Oakland Middle played more aggressively than they did during last months matchup. However, Claremont began to show why they were the superior team late in the 1st half.

Claremont seemed to be in sync passing the ball well, getting easy layups at the basket , and a ton of open shots. West Oakland Middle fought hard but a combination of missed layups and turnovers would be their demise. Although Claremont won Saturday game against West Oakland middle school 44-21 they still have a lot work to do according to their coach David Doubley.

Claremont faces off against Edna Brewer Saturday February 23, 2019 11AM at Oakland Technical high school. Claremont loss to Edna Brewer by 20 points on February 2nd. Coach Doubley doesn't like to lose "Losing leaves a terrible taste in my mouth," Doubley said. Claremont currently has a record of 2-3. In order to make the playoffs they will need to garner a victory against Edna Brewer. The game between both teams should both exciting and intense with playoff hopes on the line for Claremont. Claremont won the championship last season so not making the playoffs would not be good. Coach Doubley was asked about his teams chances of making the playoffs here is what he had to say "I like our chances of making it but we have to go out on the court

and let our play do the talking I want to defend our championship from last season," Doubley said.
